Abused love
As a consequence of a current reality show which showcased an episode on child sexual abuse, that jolted the dormant souls of our nation, it is quite abhorring to accept the attitude, and the way of conduct of the cream of our society and our leaders. It is deeply regretted that a cartoon image that appeared decades ago in our text books initiated such an uproar in the parliament that Our home minister had to apologise for its publication, whereas there exists no law that would protect children against sexual harassment. If a satirical cartoon expression of a great cartoonist can be provocative enough to create biasness among school kids, then it wouldn’t be surprising to consider that the children of such a nation are the most protected against objectionable stuffs. On the contrary the scenario is a blemished reality, where 53% of our country’s children are victim of Child Sexual Abuse. They hail from all segments of the society and most of the time has been abused by someone who is highly trusted by the family members. This clearly states that our children are not safe even at home. Its been 64 years of India’s independence, and the bill against Child Sexual Abuse is still pending in the parliament to be sanctioned. Our ministers , leaders, social activists are so preoccupied by petty agendas, that vital sensitive social issues have spread like cancer cells. Its high time that we woke up to the call of our nation where her children are facing brutal reality through physical harassment, emotional provocation, exposure to textual or obscene visual substances that has bruised their childhood and snatched away their innocence. Lets not forget that we borrow this world from our children and hence let us all endeavour to give our children a blissful childhood and a blessed future.
